We are delighted with the return of our sport due to the relaxation of the Covid-19 restrictions. We are excited that our events and camps are resuming to normality.

With this, our para committee are seeking volunteers who can aid with the improvement of our National Squad Para Camps and allow our players to develop further. We are seeking enthusiastic players or coaches who can volunteer at some of our camps to act as sparring partners for our players. There will be no requirement to attend every camp however, we will expect a minimum attendance of 2 camps per year for any volunteers selected. Sparring partners will have the opportunity to learn from the Lead National Coach, and learn more about the intricacies of Para Table Tennis.

Table Tennis Ireland is the National Governing Body for Table Tennis within the 4 individual provinces of Ireland, and we’re responsible for developing and growing the sport. We represent the interests of our members by promoting, co-ordinating, administering, operating and marketing our sport.

We wish to recruit a Para National Coach who will be responsible for further development and lead all Para Table Tennis programs for the Association. This will be a part time role of 5 days per month, initially for one-year subject to funding being continued, based mainly in Dublin. There will be a requirement with this role for some travel in Ireland and abroad. Further details on the key responsibilities of the role are contained in the job description. Former Para table tennis player Eimear Breathnach was elected as the President of Paralympics Ireland at their virtual AGM last week. Eimear has been a Vice President with Paralympics Ireland since 2015. Eimear represented Ireland at the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Paralympic Games. On behalf of the Board of Directors and members of the Association, we would like to congratulate Eimear on her appointment and we wish her the best of luck during her four year term as President.   

Sport Ireland recognises that sport can make an important contribution to economic and social cohesion and a more integrated society by using the potential of sport for social inclusion, integration and equal opportunities, whilst emphasising the total unacceptability of discrimination in any form.

In order to broaden the scope of our work in the area of Diversity and Inclusion, Sport Ireland is seeking to develop a Diversity and Inclusion policy, the content of which will be informed by a widespread consultation and research process. The Diversity and Inclusion policy document will include tangible targets and actions areas against which Sport Ireland, its funded organisations and partners can work to promote inclusion and respect diversity in relation to participation in sport and physical activity.

Paralympics Ireland have launched a new campaign “Next Level”. Which will help support Ireland’s incredible Irish Paralympic Athletes, including our very own Colin Judge on the road to the Tokyo Paralympics and beyond as they bring human achievement to ‘The Next Level’. This campaign is about giving Para athletes full credit for their remarkable level of performance.  

This campaign gives the Irish public an opportunity to have an impact on Irish sporting achievements in a way that has never been available before.
