Garda Vetting Changes 2025

As of 7th July, new vetting procedures have been introduced by the Garda National Vetting Bureau as well as a tightening up of current procedures. This applies to clubs in the ROI.

For anyone who has lived in either the UK or one of the EU 26 countries, the Garda database search will now include databases in those jurisdictions.  This is a very welcome step, but it does mean that the vetting will take longer to process.

A new form is in use, and this is the only form that is accepted by the Garda National Vetting Bureau.  It supersedes all previous versions.  The 100 point ID check has been removed and replaced by a list of permissible documents.

Each club must nominate validators for their club. Validators can be Club Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Child Safeguarding Officer. They must ensure that applicants are verified in person with their id. It  is then the responsibility of the individual being vetted to send their documents to Table Tennis Ireland.

Further information on the vetting process can be found here:

There will be an online workshop later this month to assist with the validation process.
