Jing Yi Graham continued her visit to Cork this week with the successful delivery of two Activator Award courses to 40 second-year students from Munster Technological University’s Department of Sport, Leisure & Childhood Studies.
This initiative is part of an ongoing collaboration between Table Tennis Ireland, Munster Table Tennis, MTU, and Cork Sports Partnership, aiming to integrate the Activator Award into the module programme for sports and coaching students at MTU.
Working closely with Dr. Edward Coughlan, Senior Lecturer & Researcher at MTU, this project seeks to equip students with table tennis coaching skills that they can bring into their teaching practice in Cork City and County schools. By doing so, the programme hopes to create a multiplier effect, increasing participation and awareness of table tennis in schools across the region.
In addition to the Activator Award courses, Jing Yi also visited and coached at Beech Hill and Leeside club training sessions, further supporting the development of table tennis in Munster.
This collaboration highlights the growing opportunities for table tennis development in education and community settings, ensuring a strong future for the sport in Cork!
A huge thank you to all involved in making this project a success!
