Hi All,
What a weekend it was at the Irish Closed National Championships in Craigavon! Busy, exciting, thrilling, competitive—take your pick of superlatives, everyone was amazing. If I had to sum up the weekend from TTI’s perspective in one word, it would be unity. The unity of everyone in the hall, all supporting the sport of Table Tennis, was truly a joy to witness.
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making the weekend a great success. Firstly, to our Referee Adrian and his team of Assistant Referees and Umpires, who ran a very smooth operation—thank you all. We know who you are, and there are too many to list here. Special thanks to Gillian Colvin from Bann View for providing the traveling umpires with a place to stay, and to the TTI team—your support is much appreciated.
A big shoutout to Danny McGivern and his dedicated team of volunteers from Craigavon TTC for the set up and take down for the event. To the team of volunteers from TTU including the Ulster Training Squad and members from Lisburn and Ormeau Clubs who ensured the loading and unloading of the tables and other equipment from Lisburn last Wednesday and late last night went smoothly —thank you from all of us.
We would also like to pay tribute to our President, Pat Hunter, who was on hand to present the medals and trophies both afternoons—many thanks. Lastly, to the players: it’s all about you. You are the reason we do what we do, to ensure you have the best experience possible. The happy, smiling faces throughout the two days made it all worthwhile.
We are always striving to improve and evolve. Hopefully, we have made some progress, but we are eager to continue. There will be a questionnaire seeking feedback from players, volunteers, parents, and supporters that will follow. I encourage you all to fill it in and share your thoughts.
All the best,
David
