The 100 point identification check was originally provided on the Garda National Vetting Bureau website as guiding advice when the new legislation came in on 30/04/2016. The check was to assist “Relevant Organisations” and Vetting Applicants on how they can establish identity of a Vetting Applicant.
The amendment will reflect that a “Relevant Organisation” can only request or accept the Public Service Card from a Vetting Applicant as an identity document, if the Organisation is a “Specified Body” under Schedule 5 of the Social Welfare Consolidation Act 2005 (as amended). As we are not classified as a “Specified Body”, we can no longer accept a Public Service Card as a form if ID.
We will issue an updated version of the Garda Vetting Invitation Form (NVB1) in the New Year when received from the Garda National Vetting Bureau. Please continue to use NVB1 form in the interim. There are a number of other I.D’s that can be used for identification and which are listed under Section 3 on the form.
