Team Ireland put in a stellar showing at the Raiffeisen Youth Tournament in Linz, returning home with a haul of medals and standout performances across all categories. Out of four Irish teams competing, three reached the podium – a testament to the depth and determination of our young athletes.
Team Event Highlights
Boys U15:
Ireland 1 (Peadar Sheridan & Christopher Allsop) stormed through the competition, going undefeated in 10 matches. Their notable victories included wins over Austria, Slovenia, Luxembourg, Kingfisher England, and Bayern München. Peadar and Christopher were flawless in doubles and Peadar went unbeaten in 13 singles matches.
Ireland 2 (Aaditya Singh & Clifford Tan) also impressed, winning their group and four consecutive matches to reach the semi-finals, ultimately earning a bronze medal.Girls U19:
Anjali Singh, Grace Looney, and Niamh Mason overcame a tough start to qualify for the Andro Challenge Cup. They won their next two matches before narrowly falling to England in the semi-final to claim another bronze for Ireland.Boys U19:
Ireland 1 (Ben Watson & Vincent Ni) bounced back from early defeats to reach the final of the Challenge Cup, defeating England 2 and Gratz along the way before earning a silver medal against OTTV.
Ireland 2 (Aedan McGivern & Tom Irwin) also put up a strong fight, finishing in 13th position after securing key wins over England 2, Basque, and Dachau.
Coaches Ranjit Singh and Conn Higgins praised the players’ effort, resilience, and sportsmanship throughout.
Singles Success
Following on from his team gold, Peadar Sheridan continued his phenomenal form in the U15 singles. After early round victories, he ramped up his performance to beat Austrian David Purtz in the quarter-finals, then cruised past Schoffel (Bayern München) in the semis. The final was an epic clash with home favorite and top seed Benjamin Bian. Trailing 5–8 in the fifth set, a perfectly timed break allowed Sheridan to regroup and clinch it 11–9, securing another gold and capping off an unbeaten run of 18 matches.
