ACTIVE SCHOOLS

Bring table tennis to life in your school with our dynamic Primary Schools Programme! We help schools build a thriving sporting culture through exciting Taster Sessions, high-quality teacher training, fun-filled Festivals, and meaningful connections with local clubs and other Primary Schools in the area.

Working hand-in-hand with local partners, we create a clear pathway that inspires young people, empowers teachers, and embeds sport at the heart of school life. Join us in shaping confident, active, and motivated pupils – today and for the future.

Ping Pong Art

The Ping Pong Art Programme is a dynamic initiative for girls aged 11–18 that blends the excitement of table tennis with a creative artistic twist. Rooted in the Her Moves principles, the programme encourages girls to be active, build confidence, and form meaningful friendships in a fun, inclusive environment.

What the Programme Offers

Participants begin with a two-hour introductory session, followed by a 4–6 week table tennis series where they develop skills such as hand-eye coordination, balance, and basic strokes. Alongside the sport, girls design their own table-tennis-themed artwork inspired by the programme’s “4 Fs”: Female, Fun, Friendship, and Family.

To keep the atmosphere lively, the girls choose their own playlist and even experiment with playing ping pong using everyday household items—from frying pans to spatulas and pizza trays. The result is a joyful, creative space filled with movement and laughter.

A Proven Impact in Schools

With more than 1,000 girls having taken part in the last 2 years, the programme has already made a significant impact. Many participating schools have gone on to establish after-school table tennis clubs and enter the School’s League, embedding the sport into their long-term activities. Through strong partnerships with Local Sports Partnerships (LSPs), the programme continues to expand and offer sustainable opportunities for schools and youth groups.

Building Lifelong Engagement

By integrating table tennis into school and community settings, the Ping Pong Art Programme aims to inspire lifelong participation in sport. It provides a supportive environment where girls can discover new skills, express their creativity, and build lasting friendships.

Young Leaders

Young Leaders Coaching Award invites TY and Leaving Certificate PE students to step into something new: a dynamic 3-hour training course followed by 4 hours of delivering hands-on coaching with 1st-year students or primary school children. It opens the door for teenage girls to explore an alternative sport, discover fresh interests, and connect with peers in a supportive, fun environment.

By learning new skills and taking on leadership roles, participants build confidence, strengthen their organisational abilities, and experience the many aspects of sport beyond playing. The programme encourages focus, teamwork, and personal growth—qualities that support academic success and long-term development.

Young Leaders Officiating Award

Empower your students with the Women in Sport Table Tennis Leadership Programme — a dynamic 3-hour course designed for TY, Leaving Cert PE, and 3rd-level education students. This programme opens the door for young females to get involved in sport, gain officiating experience, and represent their school at Table Tennis Ireland School Festivals and competitions.

Participants learn the essentials of Rules and Scoring, develop confidence and organisational skills, and step into real leadership roles. Once qualified, each young leader receives an Officiator Certificate and the opportunity to officiate at provincial and national events — proving that there truly is a role for everyone in table tennis.

Bat & Chat

The programme brings women and girls together through fun, friendly, and wellbeing-focused table tennis sessions. Open to all ages and abilities, the programme welcomes complete beginners, those returning to the sport, and anyone looking for an enjoyable way to stay active.

What to Expect

  • A relaxed, social atmosphere where everyone is welcome
  • Fun table tennis activities designed for all skill levels
  • Friendly competition to build confidence and experience
  • A supportive community that encourages connection and conversation
  • A focus on health and wellbeing, not performance or pressure

Why It Matters

These sessions create a space where women can feel comfortable, motivated, and inspired. Whether you want to learn something new, rediscover a sport you once loved, or simply meet new people, the Bat and Chat programme offers a positive, energising environment in which to do it.

Our Aim

To help women build active, connected communities — and to inspire lifelong enjoyment of table tennis through movement, laughter, and shared experiences.

CPD Programme

To deliver high quality support to athletes at every level, we rely on a dedicated community of skilled coaches, leaders, officials, and volunteers. Their expertise and passion form the foundation of our sport.

We are committed to creating meaningful opportunities for individuals to learn, grow, and upskill in a safe and supportive environment. By offering coaching and leadership programmes specifically tailored for female participants, we aim to nurture more female role models and strengthen representation across all areas of table tennis.

Every woman should feel a genuine sense of belonging, pride, and feel respected within our community. By empowering more female leaders and fostering an inclusive culture, we are building a sport where everyone can have the confidence and opportunity to thrive.
