WADA publishes its Prohibited List annually and the 2024 list has now been published. This list will come into effect on 1 January 2024.

Last year it was advised that there would be a change in rules around the use in Tramadol for 2024. As of 1st of January 2024, Tramadol is prohibited In-Competition as approved by the WADA Executive Committee on 23rd September 2022. Tramadol has been on the WADA Monitoring Program for some years.
The Factsheet advises that the washout period is now confirmed as 24 hours prior to the beginning of the in-competition period.
If tramadol is used within 24 hours before the start of the in-competition period, athletes should be aware that there is a risk for their testing sample collected in-competition to return positive.
