Ulster Senior Open Results

Despite the recent severe weather, which impacted the entry, the cream
of Irish Table Tennis traveled to Belfast at the weekend for the
Ulster Senior Open.

Leinster’s John Murphy, Irish number 1, justified his status as the
pre-event favorite by taking the singles title. After beating Ulster’s
Daryl Strong 3-1 in the semi-final, Murphy had to dig deep to fend off
the challenge of Ulster’s Ashley Robinson who pushed the champion to a
fifth set.

In the Ladies, Na Liu was comfortable in taking the singles title
without dropping a set, and defeating Ulster’s Amanda Mogey 4,6 and 4,
in the final.

Dublin’s Tibor Pofok took the Class II event by defeating Wexford’s
Brian Devereux in a 5-set classic, while Eastpoint’s Mark O’Flynn took
the U21 title, defeating fellow clubmate Daniel Keenan by a 3-1
scoreline. The pairing of John Murphy and Peter Graham claimed the
doubles title over Daryl Strong and Phil Wallace.
