A squad of four of Ireland’s top junior table tennis players proudly represented the country at the World Table Tennis Youth Event in Senec, Slovakia, from November 3rd to 6th 2024. The team included Peadar Sheridan, Vincent Ni, Aaditya Sing, and Clifford Tan, guided by their coach for the event, Alan Hurley.
Vincent, Aaditya, and Clifford competed in both the U17 and U15 boys categories, while Peadar took part in the U13 and U15 competitions. The highlight of the tournament for Ireland was Peadar’s exceptional performance in the U13 boys event. His impressive run included winning his group and securing four consecutive victories to reach the semi-finals, ultimately finishing in a remarkable 3rd place.
Day two saw continued strong performances, with Vincent and Peadar both advancing to the knockout stages in the U15 boys category. For Aaditya and Clifford, this event marked only their second appearance on the WTT circuit, providing valuable experience as they build toward upcoming international competitions later in the season.
Anjali Singh put in a valiant effort at the WTT Youth Contender event in Senec, Slovakia, competing in both the U17 and U19 girls’ singles categories. Despite facing tough opponents from Czechia, Germany, and France, Anjali demonstrated resilience and determination on the international stage. This experience will undoubtedly contribute to her growth as a player. Anjali’s journey highlights her potential and her dedication to continuous improvement, and we’re excited to see her build on this performance in future events!
