Local players were in impressive form for their home tournament which was held in Fivemiletown College on 2nd November 2013. With over 60 players playing in all categories, competition commenced at 10.00am and the day saw over 192 matches being played. The standard of table tennis was extremely high at this year’s event as it attracted some top names from all over Ireland.
A notable performance from Enniskillen player Reuben Jentsch saw him clinch 5th position overall in the under 11 event with the eventual winner Mayo’s David Taylor defeating Matthew Cherry from Glenburn in the final.
In the under 18 boys category, Fivemiletown Academy player Ryan McConkey claimed the title defeating Cavan’s Eric Shekleton in an all-out attacking and entertaining final. Ryan has been in outstanding form lately, claiming 2nd overall at the recent Ulster Junior Open. The under 18 girls title was won by another Fivemiletown Academy player, Hannah Lynch-Dawson who defeated Glenburn’s Emma Ludlow in a closely contested final which saw both players in top form. Hannah has also been in excellent form recently, claiming the runner-up spot at the recent Ulster Junior Open.
