The Robinson’s Ice Cream Ulster Open Table Tennis Championship 2023

The Robinson’s Ice Cream Ulster Open Table Tennis Championships,  supported by Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, returns for the 9th year to the impressive Lisburn Racquets Club over the weekend 25th-26th November 2023. This years event celebrates the Centenary of the presentation of the Ulster Open Awards which is a significant milestone for table tennis in Ulster. TTU are extremely grateful to our sponsor – ROBINSON’S ICE CREAM for once again providing generous sponsorship for the Ulster Open Championships.

Once more, the event will cater for every age group, from Under 11’s through to Masters level, with some top class table tennis guaranteed at this celebration of table tennis. An attractive Prize Fund will be offered for senior events. Consolation events will be held in all categories (time permitting)

NB. Players may not enter two events starting at the same time.

The Junior Classification is taking place this Saturday the 7th of October in the Irish Wheelchair Association in Clontarf.

The 2023 Irish Junior Classification Tournament will take place on Saturday the 7th of October at the Irish Wheelchair Association, Clontarf.

Update on 2023 Junior Classification

We wish to confirm that the 2023 Irish Junior Classification Tournament will take place on the weekend of 7th/8th of October 2023 at the Irish Wheelchair Association.

All players and coaches are advised to read the entry form for full details on the event categories and the tournament regulations. Entries will be opened through our JustGo system when the entry form is published early next week on our website.

The National Camps previously scheduled for Saturday 7th of October has been cancelled.

The tournament was originally scheduled for the weekend of 16th/17th of September 2023. Due to unforeseen circumstances, with venues not being available to us as originally planned, we’ve had to change the date of this tournament. We wish to apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused to our players, parents and coaches.

Senior Classification Draws and Timetable- 26th and 27th of August

The Senior Classification is taking place this weekend in the DCU Sports Complex on Saturday and Sunday, 26th and 27th of August.

Please see attached the draws for Saturday. DCU is open at 8am, check-in at 8.30am and play starts 9am sharp.

Sunday’s groups will not be completed until after the qualifying event on Saturday.

There is a shop around the corner from the DCU sports Complex were people can buy refreshments and food.

Anti-doping Update:

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) 2022 List of Prohibitive Substances has been updated since the 1st of January 2022. Sport Ireland launched the Anti-Doping Digital Wallet Card for 2022 (attached). It is essential that all players and support personnel whether coaches, physicians, or doctors attached to clubs or teams, consult this educational card, as well as the closely related Summary of Major Modifications and Explanatory Notes.

Ulster Closed Table Tennis Championships 2023

The Ulster Junior & Senior Closed Table Tennis Championships 2023 is taking place on Sunday 2nd of April 2023 at South Lake Leisure Centre, Craigavon. The event is taking place from 9am until 4pm.

Eligibility Criteria 

The eligibility criteria for players in the National Closed Championships are as follows: 

  • Affiliated to the ITTA and in good standing and 
  • Hold an Irish passport OR British passport from N.I. and/or 
  • Born on the island of Ireland and/or 
  • Hold proof of residence for 6 years or longer 
  • The onus is on the player to prove their eligibility to enter any event, if requested to do so by the Tournament Referee, at or before the event.
