This course is aimed at new coaches who have little or no experience in teaching Table Tennis. Over the course of 3 hours, you will be introduced to for fun based table tennis activities and basic table tennis skills at grass-root level. No table tennis background is required to take the course.
On this first step of the Coach Development Pathway, coaches with this qualification will be able to introduce and coach table tennis in schools, youth centers, community hubs etc. and become assistant coaches in club.
The Activators award is 3 hours in person program delivered by trained coaches.
The Level 1 Club Coach Award is designed for people who want to coach beginner table tennis players in a safe, fun and inclusive way.
This qualification prepares you to coach beginners only. It does not qualify you for performance or squad coaching. It focuses on both the ‘How to Coach’ and ‘What to Coach’ skills of coaching.
The course has been divided up into the 3 separate elements: –
Level 1 Session Coach consists of 2 separate days spread over approximately a 4 to 8 week period. Learners are expected to complete home study and practical coaching tasks between each day of the course.

Qualified Level 2 Coaches will play an important role in the Player’s Development Pathway at club, provincial and national levels. They could be involved in coaching junior and/or senior players at High Performance standard and progress to be NPCs for provincial or national senior teams.

The aim of Sport Ireland’s Coach Developer programme is to train effective Coach Developers who can develop and support sports coaches as part of their National Governing Body (NGB) coach education strategy/plan. The Coach Developer programme is aimed at experienced sports coaches. On successful completion of the programme, participants will be deployed by their NGB to train and support coaches at a level commensurate with their own coaching experience.
