Irish Senior Classification 2026

Table Tennis Ireland is delighted to announce that registration is now open for the Irish Senior Classification 2026.

Saturday 29th August 2026, 9.00am at the National Indoor Arena, Sport Ireland Campus,  Dublin 15.

The Irish Senior Classification Qualifying Tournament is not an Open Tournament and will qualify 4 Women’s players and 8 Men’s players into the Irish Senior Classification Tournament to be held on Sunday 30th of August 2026 in the National Indoor Arena, Dublin.

Closing date for Entries – Monday 17th August 2026.  NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Please note that Safeguarding is essential at sporting events to protect participants and create a safe, inclusive environment where everyone can enjoy the sport with confidence. 

There is an extra question on the entry form asking to supply the name of your coach attending the event, please fill this is in accurately.

  • Players who qualify for the main event will be required to play on Sunday 30th of August 2026 at 9.00am in the National Indoor Arena, Dublin. 

If players on TTI Ranking list 1 to 10 invites (Men) and 1 to 5 invites (Women) are not available,    Then the next highest ranked player on the TTI Ranking list and who has     entered the Qualifying  Tournament will get the position.

·      Play will cease when the 8 qualifiers in the Men’s and 4 qualifiers in the Ladies has been determined and no semi-finals or finals will take place on Saturday. The beaten last 16 will be requested to play a 9-16 play off to determine their order of qualification in event of an unexpected withdrawal or if more than 8 players are needed to qualify. In the circumstances where such a playoff is not played the order will be determined by the best result in the last 16, in the first instance by the number of sets won and subsequently by the number of points won.

·      The venue the National Indoor Arena will open at 8.00am on the Saturday. There will be no facility to pay on the day.

Tournament Regulations & Information

  1. Every entrant must be affiliated to TTI.
  2. This event is not an Open tournament and is confined to players who live or were born in Ireland, or hold an Irish passport.
  3. Matches will be played in accordance with the rules & regulations of TTI.
  4. Completion and submission of this entry form signifies agreement by the entrant to the conditions of the competition including the variations from TTI requirements.
  5. All competitors will be required to umpire.
  6. All matches will be the best of 5 games. The 1st round singles will be played in groups of 3/4 players, with the first 2 players qualifying for the 2nd round groups, with the first 2 players qualifying for the knockout stage. Players who finish 3rd or 4th in the 1st round groups qualify for the 2nd round Plate groups, with the first 2 players qualifying for the knockout Plate competition.
  7. The final order in a group shall be determined as per ITTF Regulations 3.7.5 for group competitions except that where a player concedes a match he/she shall receive -3 group points.
  8. The Tournament Committee reserve the right to alter the programme/format.
  9. Butterfly R40+ 3 Star Plastic Balls will be used.
  10. Doping is strictly forbidden in and out of competition. Doping control tests may take place. More information on doping can be found here: https://tabletennisireland.ie/anti-doping/ 
  11. All competitors must report to the control table on arrival and must not leave the venue while still in the competition without first obtaining permission from the Referee.
  12. Competitors will not be allowed to glue up within the confines of the playing venue. “Playing Venue” means the whole establishment in the playing building and the grounds where the playing building stands, which contains the doorway, the parking lot and related facilities.
  13. The Referees decision shall be final on points of law on any question arising not provided for in these regulations or in any dispute as to the interpretation thereof. Decisions on points of fact by an umpire or assistant umpire appointed by the Referee shall be final.
  14. TTI has a policy on the use of photographic and video recording equipment at ITTA events, and permission for the use of such equipment must be granted by the Referee or Organising Committee. All participants accept that photographs or other recorded images taken on behalf of TTI may be used in connection with the promotion TTI events and activities, unless requested otherwise in advance by the participant, their guardian or coach.
  15. The Irish Table Tennis Association including its Branches, Leagues, Committees and others who are affiliated to the Association (hereinafter “the ITTA”) reserves the right to cancel, postpone, discontinue or abandon any event or tournament at any time and for any reason whatsoever (hereinafter “an occurrence”). Where such an occurrence arises, the liability of the ITTA shall be limited to a maximum of a refund of the entrance fees paid by the entrant. The ITTA does not accept responsibility or liability for any associated and/or consequential losses (including, but not limited to travel or accommodation expenses), whether monetary or otherwise, incurred by the entrant. The ITTA does not accept responsibility or liability in respect of any costs, expenses or other losses incurred by spectators, officials, coaches, members of the media or other attendees of any event or tournament.
  16. All players, Coaches, Club Officials and Volunteers must comply with TTI guidelines on Social Media. Violation of any of these guidelines may result in disciplinary action.
  17. No entry will be accepted unless the following undertaking is signed.
  18. Acceptance of these Regulations is a condition of entry.
